As featured in the March 2009 issue of Architectural Digest Magazine, the owner’s of this property requested a Moroccan style home that would harmonize with its sub-tropical location.
The Moorish inspired design features authentic handcrafted woodwork, tile, plaster and carved stone from Morocco. A team of Moroccan craftsmen and apprentices were imported and spent a year installing the intricately designed finishes.
The abundance of light and shade, pattern, texture and color all contribute to delight the senses. Plentiful cast bronze impact resistant door and windows set into solid one foot thick concrete walls provide fortress-like protection from the elements, while creating a strong indoor-outdoor relationship. A large covered porch features hand carved stone capitals with decorative tiled columns that immerse into the L-shaped infinity edge pool. A detached outdoor kitchen and bath are crowned with a lushly planted green roof, while other site features include a 50,000 gallon fish pond, rock terraces and waterfalls, tropical gardens, courtyards, and a private sand beach.
